Developed an advanced communications simulation of a 100-node network using C and an object-oriented language. That simulation compared network throughput both with and without a newly-developed real-time resource reallocation algorithm. |
|
Developed a simulation of a knowledge-based expert system to provide system diagnostics based upon sensor indications. The simulation provided for user input of system faults, and then compared system diagnostics under various conditions of uncertainty. |
|
Developed a program to calculate position error in a robotic task involving two coordinated manipulators operating in a master-slave configuration. In addition to calculations for equations of motion, analog-to-digital quantization errors and microprocessor delays were calculated in the program for various sensor configurations. |

Provided support to the U.S. Army Operational Test and Evaluation Agency (OTEA) for the limited operational test of the Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS). Based upon the test concept of the JTIDS test, provided a survey of available models/simulations applicable to representing the planned test, identifying limitations of each with an outline of modifications and level of effort required to modify each of the models/simulations recommended. Upon OTEA's selection of models from the recommended list, prepared detailed recommendations on models with focus on how the environment of the test site was to be treated in the models and how the formulation of model inputs were derivable from the measurements planned in the test. |

Participated in a project to develop and run a mainframe simulation to test and evaluate several different control systems designed to stabilize sling-loads carried by helicopters. Also, directly supervised the "real-time" computer testing on the CDC mainframe using a flight simulator and the dynamic computer testing used to evaluate one of the control systems. |
